Media Focus of the Month: Recording Arts

Dear UpGrade Media Arts Community:

For the week of January 20th, UMA students are wrapping up semester one courses, and report cards will be sent to parents next week Friday, January 27th. In business, students are learning about personal finance and in science, students are finishing their engineering process project.

Here are some highlights from this week:

Academics: Students continued to finalize their first semester courses in WVS. As a reminder, the final results from each WVS course will be combined with their other UMA work. All of this information will determine their Semester I grades on the report card. Reports cards will also include students’ social justice, AVID, and learning partnership work. As a reminder, report cards will be sent to families on Friday, February 27th, 2023.
Business: This week students are learning about personal finance. We discussed how to write a check, what it means when a check bounces, and what the benefits of having a checking account are.
Science: This week students have finished the first part of their engineering project, which includes finding a problem in the world/community and following the engineering process to find innovative solutions to these problems. In light of our recording arts focus this month, part 2 of the project will be an audio recording of their overall project problem and solutions they have come up with.
