For the week ending October 6th, students are in week 5 of their WVS Math, Science, English Language Arts, and Civics courses. Students are now setting 1:1s with their teachers and gearing up for module exams. In podcasting, Elzie is teaching students about how to have a good pre-production meeting and why pre-production is so important. In cooking, Chef Alicia teaches students about meal preparation, healthy food choices, sanitary food handling, and diseases that could occur if you do not clean and sterilize/sanitize your work areas. In business, students learn different pricing strategies associated with the 4 P’s (Product, Price, Promotion, and Place), emphasizing customer demand and supply.

UMA Courses

Podcast Town Academy (Mr. Elzie):   
This week students are recording another episode of the UMA Podcast. Students are learning that a good pre-production meeting and rehearsal can cause less stress on the post-production team.  

Business and Media Integration (Mr. Thompson):   
This week students are learning about the marketing mix. They are applying their knowledge of the marketing mix to companies such as Tesla, Starbucks, Target, and Nike. Students are also learning about different pricing strategies and which companies implement those strategies.  

Culinary Arts (Chef Alicia): 
This week students are learning how to make pasta from scratch. Students are also preparing a full-course meal. Chef Alicia also discusses different types of diseases that may come from not properly washing your hands and utensils and not sterilizing your work area.
