UMA Courses
Academics:
Students in the WVS Plus classes have access to video recordings of lessons taught by their teachers. We are encouraging students to use the Math, Science, Civics, and English Language Arts videos as refreshers. Some students are being assigned the videos as homework to further develop their knowledge of certain topics and related content.
Business and Media Integration (Mr. Thompson):
This week, students are learning about what it takes to start a franchise. They learned about the initial investment and the royalty fees associated with franchises. Students also discussed how franchises use social media for customer service and to expand their brand personality.
Culinary Arts (Chef Alicia):
For their capstone cooking class, students had to make Swedish Meatballs from scratch. They took everything they learned from Chef Alicia and applied it to their last final meal for the course. Students also created a mini cooking show, combining the elements of media and culinary arts. Stay tuned for the cooking show.
CBS 58 (Radio, TV, Podcasting):
Next week, we will be meeting with students who will participate in the CBS 58 radio, television, and podcast projects. Student “team captains” will be selected to lead some of the work. We will keep you posted as the projects develop.
