Dear UpGrade Media Arts Community:

For the week ending Jan. 12th, 2024, students are reading chapter one of our newest award-winning book, All American Boys by Jason Reynolds. On Tuesday, we held a virtual instruction day due to the weather.  We took this as an opportunity to familiarize students with how unexpected virtual learning days work at UpGrade. In WVS, students are completing their final exams and working to finalize their last set of assignments. In business, students are learning about compound interest and investing.

Media Arts Courses

Academics:
In math, students are learning about percentages and how to calculate percent error. In English language arts, students are finishing the final touches of their creative writing stories and learning how to make their creative writing stories stronger by adding more vivid verbs and adjectives. In Civics, students are completing their final exams, part one and two. In science, students are working with their instructor to receive assistance on assignments they found challenging.

Business and Media Integration (Mr. Thompson):
This week, students are learning about compound interest and investing. Our case study for investing is Warren Buffett. We looked at why he is so successful in investing and discussed how he uses compound interest. We also looked at the compound interest formula and used it to process some real world problems.

CBS 58 (Radio, TV, Podcasting):
Our CBS-58 commercials are now airing!  We hope you have an opportunity to see our community in action and tell everyone you know about the great learning that is happening at UMA.
