Dear UpGrade Media Arts Community:

For the week ending March 8th, 2024, students are reading the first 5 chapters of our newest book Wonder by R.J. Palacio. Also this week, a group of high school students have started their cooking course at the MATC-Downtown campus. In academics, students are starting their newest units and preparing for their first lesson quizzes. In business, students are taking their knowledge of lean canvas models and applying them to startups like Uber, Facebook, and X (Formerly Known as Twitter).

Academics:
In math, students are learning how to differentiate between theoretical probability and experimental probability. In civics, they are learning about GDP or gross domestic product and how the standard of living affects the lives of citizens. In science, students are studying the different properties of light.  In ELA, they are learning about the different elements of drama by reading and dissecting a short story.

Business and Media Integration (Mr. Thompson):
This week, students are continuing to develop their understanding of startups. They are using the lean canvas model to deconstruct existing startups such as Uber or Facebook. This will further help students understand how businesses develop each section of their lean canvas model from revenue streams to target customer segments.
